Efergy electricity monitor

What is it?Electricity monitor
Price£44.95
The goodEasy to install, memory feature for looking back at previous days, updates every 5 seconds
The badCan't download data to laptop, battery rather than mains powered

Being the gadget lover that I know you are, chances are you use a lot of power. If it's not the LCD television it's the PS3, if it's not that then it's your computer and a host of other bits and bobs.

So what is a gadget boy or girl to do? Employ another gadget to help you monitor all this of course.

The Efergy is like the Wattson and the Owl. It allows you to monitor your electricity use around the house via a simple display and therefore track what energy you are using, how much you are spending and what your carbon footprint is.

Out of the box and it's a transmitter and a small LCD display both of which are battery powered.

The transmitter attaches to your main electricity supply (don't worry there is no wiring to be done) and then transmits the amount of current flowing through the cable to the display, which in turn interprets the information to something a little more useful.

Once connected, the information starts following through nicely - every 6 seconds to be precise - and you can see the real-time power load in kW; or as pence per kWh; or as emissions measured in terms of kg of carbon dioxide, (kgCO2E).

Additionally and unlike the Wattson you can view previous days stats on the device rather than having to download them to a computer to see how today compares with yesterday, last week, last month or last year.

In practice and its amazing to see the difference turning on the kettle really does make.

Macally, the company that bought us the iPod nano headphone has launched a new iPod alarm clock called the Tune Pro.

The new speaker system features a mirrored speaker with SRS WOW stereo sound support and an alarm clock so you can wake up to you favourite tunes.

Based on the NXT flat panel speaker technology the unit is incredible thin and doesn't even show the speakers themselves.

Although only available in the US at the moment a spokesperson told Pocket-lint that the speaker system would be coming to the UK late Summer in time for Christmas.

This is what comes into my mind whenever i hear about the sony ericsson's K850 ... Big camera, huge sound, tiny package

The K850i is an all-rounder. The reason why it is an all-rounder is because Sony Ericsson have made this model a great walkman, a great camera and a great mobile phone. Here are some of the awesome features of this phone:

  • 5-megapixel Cybershot camera has BestPic, which takes nine shots in sequence every time, making it positively tricky to take a bad photo.
  • It's also got Xenon flash for dodgy light situations, intelligent search and the Photo Fix capability.
  • MP3 playback.. No doubt that the K850i lives up to the reputation that Sony ericsson has in creating walkman phones.
  • Easy browsing through your music collections, photo albums and videos.
  • Supports microSD as well as the Memory Stick Micro.
  • Ability to record video in QVGA resolution at 30 fps.
The model is a capable communications tool with quad-band GSM/EDGE/HSDPA support. The model seems to be awesome. Most of you might want to shift to this model which has everything that is needed.

Diesels's OLED packing watches

Diesel has just launched a pair of new watches that are damn cool looking and mainly has a superb OLED tech.

OLED is an organic light-emitting diode which usually contains a polymer substance that allows suitable organic compounds to be deposited. This resulting matrix of pixels can emit light of different colors. Such systems can be used in television screens etc.

The advantage that OLED has over LCDs is that OLED does not require blacklight to function. There are a very few OLED display watches which are not as attractive as compared to the diesel’s DZ7080 and the DZ7079 with awesome design and water-resistance.
