TechFest Video: Demo

Microsoft's Andy Wilson describes his Play Together videoconferencing system as an "11th-hour hack." Two of Wilson's Play Anywhere units -- an infrared camera, a projector and some object-recognition software -- are networked to allow bi-directional interactivity. In this demo, two players can see their opponents move chess pieces on each other's boards.

"Reflecting reality is much more interesting than the traditional, mediated approach to videoconferencing," Wilson says.
